Working at the Carwash

These carwash structures are generally quite weird because they’re really just a façade built around a giant washing machine. We humans really do very strange things for the love of our automobiles. I was drawn to the orange and white towers which line the sidewalk and I liked the way they meshed with the stacks of orange cones hung on the legs of the large awning out front.

This piece is simpler because I worked with fewer elements. The reason? Well.. I sensed some funny looks when I pulled out my camera. After only a few minutes of shooting, some dude stopped me and said “no photos.. you gotta talk to that guy.” So I talked to “that guy” wouldn’t give me the thumbs up without word from the owner who wasn’t there, so I left with what I’d already shot and it turned out to be the right elements for this piece.
